Serial number
sequence generator.
Build the serial list before the parts arrive. Set a prefix, range, zero-padding, and optional date code; the tool checks MIL-STD-130 character rules, reports the smallest Data Matrix that fits the longest serial, and exports CSV for the RFQ or traveler.

From list to verified mark.
Serialized runs are driven from a data file, not typed by hand. The CSV you export here can be loaded straight into the marking software, so each part receives exactly the serial on your record.
After marking, every 2D code is read back and compared to the source list, and human-readable serials are inspected against the same list. Verification data and a Certificate of Conformance are available on request.
Everything runs in your browser. No serial list is sent to us until you choose to attach it to an RFQ.
What characters are allowed in a MIL-STD-130 serial number?
MIL-STD-130 limits UII data elements, including the serial number, to uppercase letters A–Z, digits 0–9, the dash, and the forward slash. Spaces, periods, underscores, and lowercase letters are not permitted in the encoded UII. The generator flags any serial that violates this.
Why zero-pad serial numbers?
Fixed-length serials sort correctly in spreadsheets and databases, keep the Data Matrix symbol size constant across the run, and make misreads obvious. Choose a pad width that covers the largest serial you expect to ever issue under the same prefix, not just this batch.
Should the date code go in the serial number?
Only if the serial must remain unique across years without a database. A YYWW or YYMMDD block guarantees uniqueness for each production period, but it lengthens the serial and the Data Matrix. Many programs keep the date in a separate lot or batch field instead.
How do I use this list for a marking job?
Download the CSV and attach it to your RFQ or traveler. We load the list into the marking software so each part receives the exact serial from your record, and our verification pass reads every code back against the same list.
Is this a UID or IUID generator?
This tool produces the serial number element only. To assemble a full UII (enterprise identifier plus part number and serial) and render it as an ECC 200 Data Matrix, use the Data Matrix / IUID Generator, which builds the Construct 2 payload from CAGE, part number, and serial.
Attach the CSV to an RFQ — we’ll mark the run.
